The University of Guelph’s web presence is managed by the Communications & Marketing (C&M) department. C&M is responsible for the design of and messaging on all top-level University webpages, as well as setting the online graphics and content standards for the University.
The University of Guelph is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible for all users, regardless of any disability they may have or the technology they use. Official University of Guelph websites must conform with the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
Under Section 14 of the IASR, all University of Guelph internet websites and web content are expected to conform with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0), initially at Level A by January 1, 2014 and increasing to Level AA by January 1, 2021. This standard applies to all websites and web content created or edited after January 1, 2012.
Requests for new domain names or web server addresses should be submitted to the University’s Website Manager who will then forward approved domain names to the appropriate staff in Computing and Communications Services for implementation. The conditions under which these addresses are assigned and used are subject to the University of Guelph’s Web Publishing Guidelines.
The University of Guelph protects its visual identity through registration under the Canada Trademarks Act. No person may use any trademark identical to, or confusingly similar with, the trademarks and official marks identified in this document without written approval from the University of Guelph. Policies and recommendations contained in this guide apply to all departments and divisions of the University of Guelph and external organizations that are approved users of University trademarks and logotypes. All inquiries should be directed to the Department of Communications and Marketing.

These guidelines provide information to campus web designers and developers and external agencies involved in the creation of official University of Guelph web pages. Web sites developed for colleges, departments or other units of the university are considered official web sites. Web publishers are responsible for the content of the pages they publish and are expected to abide by the highest standards of quality, consistency and responsibility. This includes information on Accessibility, Approval Process, Copyright, Contact Information, Sponsor & Donor Recognition, Domain Names & URLs, Navigation, Title & Meta Tags, University of Guelph Identifier and the Official University of Guelph Web Template.
All University colleges, departments, faculties, schools and other units, as well as all faculty, staff, students and alumni who possess University computer accounts, may become an information provider on the University’s website. Anyone whose information offerings are accessed via the University of Guelph website must abide by these guidelines.
